I just built 2 melamine cages 5' x 2' x 18" and want to seal the interior seems so none of the waste materials get into them & also so I can hide any small chips along the edges. I was thinking of some sort of white silicone (since I used white melaming) but, didn't know if it would be safe.
GE Silicone II seems to be one of the most popular products. It is a 100% silicone and is cheaper than the product specifically advertised for aquaria use. Use either white or clear.
I'm planning to utilize sliding doors & would like to know where to get track or some sort of channel that 1/4" glass or plexi will easily slide in.
The minimum order from Outwater plastics is probably slightly more than you need, but will probably still be cheaper, especially since you need more than 4' (the typical length it comes in). If what you need is less than the minimum order, I suggest buying enough for three cages, instead of the just the minimum order. Why pay for an unsuable short section? And have them cut it to a slightly longer length than you need, just to be safe.
You'll want the plastic glass track farther down this page:
