? about moving box turtle outside

Cdp75 Apr 17, 2005 11:24 AM

I'm thinking about moving Boxie outside. Her area is all ready to go. I think she'd be much happier outside. The daytime temp here is around 70-80 and night time temps are around 50. Is the night temp to cool for her?

Your turtle should be fine outside at those temperatures: make sure that it has a place to 'dig in' for the night, such as a leaf pile or other cover.

what species of box turtle and where do you live?

Cdp75 Apr 17, 2005 07:18 PM

It's an Eastern Box turtle and I live in north AL.

great...that's their normal range. I got a buddy in Decatur, know the area pretty well. plenty of humidity...she'll be fine.

Yeah, I live in Huntsville. Does your buddy already have turtles? Any chance he'd be interestedin this box turtle? She was a WC from Sept of last year that someone gave me. She was in very bad shape and still looks a little skinny but she's eating really good now.

cool...I happen to be in Huntsville too...Texas that is

unfortunately my old army pal there doesn't keep herps...he's into vintage Ford Mustangs! but I'm sure there's a turtle/tortoise conservation society or rescue group near there, or even somebody off the forum who is closer who could help. do you normally keep them, and are just overstocked?

how old do you think she is? size?
