I checked on this girl last night, and I can't tell if shes just getting fat or if it's ovulation. Im hoping for fat because I wanted to pick up a spider this summer and use her next season for him. But if it's ovulation this late in the season she probably won't be ready. I honestly cant tell, she hasn't eaten in a month, but shes got a the bulge, not so pronounced as I've seen. Anyone?

Hmmmmm, I'd say "YES IT ISSSSS!!"

If you palpate her (lightly) you should be able to tell.
You won't be able to count follicles/eggs, but you'll feel
a huge bulge inside her.

I really didn't want to waste a 2500 gram female on a pastel and I thought since they only hooked up twice I was going to be ok. I really wanted to put her with a spider. Oh well, c'est la vie!

If in fact you "wasted" her on a Pastel... I have a 4' 2150+grm female I'd trade for a male pastel from the clutch That way you'd still have a big girl for a spider this fall!!!

Looks like a ovulation to me, you'll know for sure if its not there in a day or two.

LOOKS like Ovulation to me, Unless she ATE and you said she didn't. Ball pythons usually don't just get fat unless the are ovulating. Also even if she is gravid ....she should still go next season around the same time, My BIG Brute female laid 7 eggs last year on st patty's day(3-17-2004) and this year she laid 12 eggs on 2-17-2005, 8 pastels and 4 normals. So I know it is possible. Hope this helps. Thanks David
