substrate...more

swani Jul 10, 2003 04:41 PM

What do people use as substrate? Is there any that you shouldn't use..(aspen?) Post some picks if you want...Good opportunity to show off your snakes too!

Also...I fed my snake another adult mouse today, he got it down again. It just looks sooo big...What would be the worst that could happen if he's not ready for that size??

You guys are all very helpful . Much easier than trying to find the right book to answer some of the odd, obscure questions that seem to come up while trying to learn all you can about CORNS!
THANKS for all the help and opinions!

Hello. When I first got my Albino, I used Cage Carpet, but since them I have been using Aspen Pellets. Hope this helps some.

If you're pushing the higher limit of food size (1.5 times the size of widest pt MAX), I would make sure it is getting swallowed in the correct direction (i.e. HEAD FIRST). I would NOT let anything that seemed big in the first place to go in butt first...

A few years ago when I started with my ball python and corns I used Aspen, however I find the Reptibark is much more appealing and less messy. Covers smell and holds the perfect moisture. Very reusable if properly maintained and cleaned. Never had respiratory problems due to using this stuff though it does seem dusty.

good luck
