Importance of Water

coluberking25 Apr 17, 2005 04:24 PM

How important is water for beardies? I don't have a water dish with mine, but he seems fine to me. I think he gets good water from his veggies because I rinse them before I offer them to him. I also mist him every now and then

No water dish needed. Odds are they would not dring from it anyway. A few will but most won't, You are right to rinse the veggies, that is one way they get water. Also if you feed pellets the water in them after you soak them is good as well. I know mine gets plenty of water because of the fluid with the urates. Misting is also good, mine even seems to like it.

you can try dripping water onto your beardies nose with an eye dropper or a syringe, that's how I do it...

My female drinks when I give her a bath or when I drop water on her nose with my finger other than that I've never seen her drink from her water dish but I keep it in her tank because she likes to wet the sand and use it as finger paints lol.

and running back and forth through it, I gave up. She never once drank out of it.

I think she gets enough moisture out of her crickets and washed salads. She rarely drinks in the bath now except this year after brumation, and she really got into it...eyes closed and nose down in it for a good 20 seconds of chugging.

I do use a dropper on the nose if she's off her food, though, and she'll drink from that on most occasions.
