CBB Carpet hatchlings, plus parent photos

twinoats Apr 17, 2005 06:04 PM

Twelve of 13 Lateralis lateralis eggs hatched into very robust babies. Finally I had a minute to snap a few pics. These guys incubated for almost 11 months, all told. I have had the most luck using the old "closet shelf" method with the Carpets (these have been the healthiest yet coming out of the shells), better than the diapause method of cooling them, although we had an unofficial diapuse simply with the house cooling a little in a NY winter. These are only a few days old though, so time will tell. They look great, as good and as easy as my Panther babies!

Proud Papa "Orzo", also captive-hatched. He has always been an unusual lighter green than most Lat lats, almost neon. All of my other male Lat lats have been more Kelly green.

Yes, I second that! Good job! Nice to see success with a less commonly kept species!
