Yellow Belly? whats the deal?

biscuit71 Apr 17, 2005 09:38 PM

I was looking through the classifieds and was looking at some Balls, and came across an ad for a Yellow Belly. It basically to me looked like a normal ball with some yellow here and there.. nothing crazy.... But the price was 4000.00 Am i missing something? Whats the Yellow Belly about? I'm not all into balls yet, but I am trying to get into them slowly and want to take my time and learn what it is all about.... thanks... All answers appreciated.

The yellow bellys are het. ivory. some yellow bellys are a proven line like the snake keeper and a couple more, the snake keeper first produced the ivory ball python. all the yellow bellys that are for sale half of those will be a true yellow belly. Thanks Scott Glover

The Yellow Belly is also het.for Ebony.Yellow Belly x Granite=Ebony.

Actually I agree with you, that was a fairly normal looking ball, it wasn't a true Yellow Belly at least, it may be something else but not a YB in my opinion. That particular one lacked the outlining pattern on the sides of the belly and didn't show the blushing on the sides like good ones have. The ad seems to be removed , I assume others have let the person know that it wasn't a YB and the ad was pulled, hopefully nobody bought it as a YB anyway! Just because it has some yellow on the belly does not make it a YB, the name YB is a little misleading , most YB's do have some degree of Yellow on the belly but the sides and the pattern on the belly edges is what most consider the "markers" to go by. Hope this helps, I'll include a pic as well for you. Anthony McCain-McCain's Reptiles.

Great... Thanks for the replies. I was wondering about that one in teh classifieds as it basically looked like a normal Ball with some slight intrusions of color from the sides.. Some Ball morphs looks SOO much like normals to me, It just amazes me that people can tell them apart. I mean, I have Dumerils at the moment... one is really dark, and the other is a light color.. more of a tan. Both are just plain old Dumerils. I guess i have to get out of the "boa mentality".

Thanks again for the help. =)
