A good sealant glue also a question on filtration and pumps...

I;m in the process of designing an enclosure with two seperate parts for two different tree frog communities (probably going to be different species in each) and have come across the problem of gluing down the false bottom and other such things which will need to properly restrict the passage of water through any cracks. So which type of glue should I use that will be safe for the frogs or whatever I might put in there. A brand name might be nice to make things simpler on myself.

as for the filtration.. because I want this to look REALLY nice, I would like to put a nice water feature and because i know of the trouble of cleaning water every day or so I need a solution for cleansing water.. what is the best solution as to keepign the water clean in a small package that can be easily hidden within the enclosure? If it helps, I will most likely make the water feature a waterfall, but its a maybe at the moment..

Any input is appreciated.

Andrew

as far as the glue goes, use 100% silicone sealant...brand name GE Silicone II. Not 1. 1 is 100$ latex/silicone blend. While the 2 is more expensive (about $5/tube), it's well worth it.

As far as filtration goes, you could put a cannister filter behind it. This could also create your water fall. However, i'm not too sure what you're looking to do, so maybe someone else will have a better idea

Any type of fish tank glue sold in any pet store or cheaper on sites is great/safe.

This is an expensive version of the 100% silicone I was referring to. You don't have to wait as long on an outgas time as you will with one from home depot (that's about half the price.)

Good glue??? No glue at all. I used aquarium silicone to attach my "pilons" to the bottom of the tank for my 55 gal paludarium. It is 100% safe for animals, and the tube I bought at Petco cost me like $7, and I still have PLENTY!

Good filtration?? I like natural filtration. What I am doing for my palu is this; I bought a small sumbersible water pump(also from Petco), and this will reside under my false bottom(set at 7" high). This will pump up through the eggcrate bottom into a circular cork bark piece, and then out. Where the water will land, I plan on using a substrate of coconut husk, activated charcoal, and river rocks. This should give some good filtration. Not to mention, all the plants will be live, and those will soak up any waste products in the water and/or land.

Hope this helps!
