You said, "TRUE Hypo and Red Hypo Jaguars can ONLY be produced and acquired at JBC this season." I'm confused by this. Did you say this because you know that no one else has produced any hypo/red hypo jags this year, or are you saying that hypo/red hypos can't be produced when someone breeds a regular jag to a normal coastal? I thought that you initially produced your hypo, red hypo, and banana jags all from breeding a regular jag to a normal.
Sorry about asking all of these questions. I'm not trying to interrogate you--just trying to make sense of these jag genetics.
Jake
Until now the only breeder pair that has produced Hypos ( both phases )
has been my light Coastal female and the son ("Junior" - first proof -
on my Regular Jaguar page ). I have used this regular Jaguar male
with other Coastal females without producing any Hypos.
Morelia Inc used a Hypo male last year with several Coastal females,
but did not produce Hypo Jaguars. However, a few of his regular
babies were absolutely stunning.
I am not saying that no one else can eventually produce some Hypos
from a regular Jaguar to a Coastal or a Hypo Jaguar to a Coastal, but
it just hasn`t happened yet.
I only know for a fact that my usual female Coastal has produced some
Hypo babies this year ( both phases ). This year the father is the high
yellow Hypo Jaguar ( on my Hypo page ). In other words the mother`s
own son, so I expect the babies will develope into some exceptional
adults as far as coloration etc. is concerned.
Hypos have also been produced from my Hypo to Hypo breeding this
year as you know.
And I expect former customers to produce Hypo Jaguars from their own
Hypo pairs next year or during 2005 at the latest.
That all makes a LOT more sense now. I have a couple more questions, though, if you don't mind answering them. When the first banana jag hatched out, did it look leucistic? Also, do any of the "normal" offspring from your female that throws hypo jags appear to be hypo?
Jake
The Banana looked different with a more light greyish white tone.
The female Coastal that produces the Hypos is pictured on my
Coastal webpage - female # 1.
She is light colored, but far from being a Hypo.
....how is it a Jaguar? The pattern elements look normal to me, abeit in spectacular colours.

My intention when breeding my Red Hypo Jaguar pair was to produce
the first SUPER Red Hypo Jaguar. Even though this specimen doesn`t
have the usual Jaguar pattern it looked completely different than the
rest of the hatchlings with no dark pigment and red tongue as well as
its beautiful color and head and neck pattern.
If you look closely to the other pic of the SUPER together with the normal
ghost like sib and Red Hypo Jaguar you will see the typical head pattern
of a Jaguar on the SUPER, but of a much lighter color.
I sure haven`t seen normal Coastals that look like this during my 34
years of keeping Coastal Carpets.
That the body pattern is banded instead of the typical blotches doesn`t
mean its not a Jaguar. It still comes from the same Red Hypo Jaguar clutch.
I even call the Banana the Banana Jaguar or the patternless Jaguar so
please don`t ask me to explain this....
Tje Jan!
Beautiful by the way, just beautiful. Do you think this says anything about the siblings from any of the lines? Or, will we have to wait 'till they are bred? Codominant, etc?
Thanks

Since I produced this strange looking ghost like sib from the Red Hypo
line and all the different Jaguar morphs I believe there might be a great
possibility of producing something special when breeding normals
to normals.
However, we will have to breed them first to find out for sure.
Next year should be the year .....
I guess it's not a jaguar.
If this hatched from the jag x jag breeding this could be one of the 25% not-jaguars you should hatch.
Anyway... very nice snake.
Cheers,
Bas
