Thats yet another reason dirt is best. No problem at all if they are set up even close to properly.

Thanx shavr that is what i was thining i just wannated to make sure with some one like u that has used dirt before. Ok here my question ok how do u get the right tmeps in your big cages? im in the proses of buliding a 10x3x3. What other heat sources do u use besides the basking spot. I mean like what do u personaly use like heat pad ect.. hey thanx alot peace.

You have to experiment with amounts and locations.
The room they live in is 73-69f all year. I only use 45 watt halogen floodlights mounted 12 inches away from the basking spot. Anywhere from 3-5 lights together. Maybe one in the middle to raise ambient temps on the 10ft cage. No heatpads, they are contact heat only, not substrate heaters.

I Do have a problem. I use reptibark for my lizards since they are relatively small still and its affordable & clean. however, my BT monitor eats it if its stuck to food! Reptibark claims its passible, which it is, but I don't like him eating it because he is still small. I saw bark in his poop when I first got him & was feeding him on the ground, but now I make a point to feed him off a bowl, plate, or napkin to prevent bark eating.

my tegu however (because tegus chew & monitors swallow, which is why it is not a prob for my tegu) actually spits out the reptibark if it is stuck to a mouse or whatever! good for him, & i wish my monitor would do the same!

Oh PS - u can put your list of animals & your name at the bottom by going to "my account" - its in little red letters @ the top of the page, and go to your profile, and type in what you want to be automatcally shown in your "Signature". then write a message & preview it to see if it worked.

It doesnt matter if they swallow dirt or edible bark, it disolves almost completely. Use dirt it is best for them.
