My new Vision 332 - So much more efficient than open top

SLeeVes Apr 17, 2005 11:58 PM

Check out my new enclosure...

This thing is so much more efficient than the 40g breeder i have. i ran the lights all day today to monitor temps...i started with (2)100W spots in 5.5in domes along with a 24" UV flourescent. After two hours, i had to shut off one spot lamp and it has held all day at 104°F ( /-2°F) ambient air on the hot side and 83°F ( /-3°F) on the cool side. Surface temps under the basking light reached 124°F ( /-5°F) at hottest point.

On my 40g breeder, i've been running (2)100W spots and (1)100W CHE spread across the top to get those kind of temps. so i'm pretty happy so far...

Sorry...here's the correct image size.

I'm building a wooden tank for that very reason.. I'm hoping to have similar results! Right now I have 2 100w and 1 160w MVB going, all squeezed on the warm end, just to maintain the 99-102 temp. Would be nice if i can reduce that to just the MVB.

hi...yeah, i was planning to build a diy wooden enclosure, but it seemed like so much work and i'm sure the end result would have been too heavy and clunky looking if i had built it.
anyway, good luck, and let's see some pics after you finish building your enclosure.
