Hypomelanistic Grayband

Aaron Apr 18, 2005 01:22 AM

Thought some of you might like to see an adult hypomelanistic Grayband. This is one I got from Dan Johnson out of his Black Gap locality stock and is also 100% het for anerythristic. I will be putting him with a really nice busy Black Gap normal female Blair's this year and hopefully they will produce some 100% het hypo/50% het anery babies. I may also put him with some 100% het anery/67% het hypo females as well if they appear to be ovulating.

Now that is nice Aaron...I am glad some people are continuing some of Dan's projects. Who else is breeding them? I know David Doherty has some of them......Who has the Hueco Mt alterna? You know, the WHITE ONES!!!!!

And.....Do you think that is a Mexicana? (I do) LOL!!!!!!!!!!

Did Dan get rid of all his greybands? Does he still have any left? And just curious, why did he get out?
Thanks Jim

I don't know besides Doherty anybody who is selling any of Dan's hypos. A couple friends of mine have some Hueco's. I am sure they will be available in the future, besides the place can always be hunted although it's not that popular. I hunted it once.
Dan still keeps snakes he just is not in the business anymore. I think Doherty may have gotten some of Dan's Huecos too.
I don't think any wide banded Blair's hypos or Ghosts have been produced yet so there is alot of room for new looking alterna with these. You can also work toward pin stripe and speckled morphs within the Black Gap locality. That place has almost every variation of grayband there is.

I think alterna is it's own species but is very closely related to mexicana. Ruthven's as well I think are thier own species. Ruthven's likely breed with both triangulum and mexicana where their ranges overlap. If it's not a species what could you call it a triangulum or mexicana? It's either both or neither, I say neither. I don't think the verdict will be final until the whole complex including as yet to be reported localities are (re)evaluated.
