Crabby little Crested . . .

powergeckos Apr 18, 2005 09:23 AM

This is one crabby little crested. Ever since I had to pick some stuck shed off of him - he has been NASTY. I decided to snap some pictures.

It wouldn't be so bad, but it's butt ugly too - LOL. It was sold to me as a red harlequin baby - but it's grey with baby dalmation spots. Nasty - expensive - ugly - what a combo!!!!

Lol, that's pretty funny. My GF had a similar thing happen with one of our little cresties last night. He desided to try to bite the tweezers she was using to clean his shed off of him. We'll have to see if he turns crabby like yours.

Some of my newborn cresties are crabby like that too for the first day or so then they usually settle down.

I had one that tried to bite me everytime I put my hand in its cage till it was 6 months old. Now he appears to gotten better control over his anger and we get along fine.

What a great picture. I don't think he's ugly, but then I did not pay a premium price for him, either.

Just got my second clutch of hatchlings last night. Look to have some nice flame. My first hatchling turned out sort of bland, but these two are an improvement.

Hey Monte do you have to tape a cricket to his head? I am still cracking up over that!

Omigod, I started laughing all over again remembering the crack about taping the cricket to its head so that the other geckos would play with him!!! The timing of Monte's gaping crested could not have been better: Sat. night, 4-16, a baby hatched and when I fished it out of the perlite, it gaped at me just like that!! I'd never had a baby do that before, and I cracked up. Then when I tried to scoop it up to transfer it into a critter keeper, it SQUEAKED! Loudly, at that! Now, when I mist it, morning and night, it SQUEAKS! Is that normal? I've hatched dozens of cresties, but have never had a baby squeak so often before.

I don't know who's line that is, but at that size, grey is good. Most of my reds and just about every red I've ever seen have been that color as babies. Hang onto that one until it's at least 9 months old. You might be surprised.

I like the ones with attitude...they're usually the best breeders.
