Herping Big Bend National Park questions

cowtownherper Apr 18, 2005 10:56 AM

I have lived in Texas most all of my 45 years, and have never been to Big Bend. My wife and I have decided to go in June. I would like to find a motel in the area to use as a home base for about five days. Anyone with suggestions for a plan of attack would be greatly appreciated.

Well, for starters, the park is off limits to collecting. I would stay away from it altogether unless you just would like to drive through to see the scenery. I would probably go to the Sanderson area. Stay at the Outback. Talk to Roy. I would actually post this on the graybanded kingsnake forum. Many of the hard core West Texas herpers can be found there. I have personally always liked the Sanderson TX area myself. June would be perfect.
