Shedding problem

Tarzana Jul 10, 2003 05:01 PM

My leopard gecko is four years old and has never had a shedding problem until recently. She still has some skin left on one of her front feet. I know how it can cause the loss of toes and I was just wondering if anyone knows a way I can help her. *She has a humid hide filled with peat moss that is misted daily, so I don't know why this happened. Thanks for any help.

When that happens to my leos, I soak their front feet with a paper towel that has been wet with warm water. Then I take my fingers and gently try to remove the skin. This will work if you do it today...don't wait because the skin will constrict and make it harder to get off if you wait. Once, the skin on my leo's jaw constricted (I couldn't even tell it was shed skin, it looked normal) and his gums were bared because it was pulling his lips. I took him to the vet who had to cut the skin off and give him some medicated ointment to moisturize the area.
