Eating while gravid

MichHerper Apr 18, 2005 12:40 PM

Anyone ever have a cornsnake continue to eat consistantly and still lay eggs? I have a trio currently, both of my females have gained wait within the last two weeks and shed but have eaten for me today. Has me slightly puzzled. Granted I have not seen them copulating, I am still hopeful. I was just wondering if anyone else has ever had cornsnakes continue to eat even though they were gravid.

Thanks,
Jeff

The Corn Snake Manual says some will continue to eat past the pre lay shed, but that small meals will be best for them. So, yes, it's heard of &, I assume, fine. Just feed them much smaller items.

usually NO they will stop a week or two before the pre-lay shed.even a month.....

yes.it happens.........I had a hybrid eat and lay the same day and she didn't have a prelay shed...she did this 3 times in one year...

maybe yours are not gravid yet.

they should be working on it at least..keep feeding and breeding if they want to........
