Cham. breeder in Ontario?

lola44 Apr 18, 2005 12:47 PM

Hi all,,, I've been lurking in the background, reading all the advice to new owners and have slowly come to the decision that I'd like to get a Chameleon. I looked into it about a year ago and decided to wait and do more research. So, in my head I've got it all worked out. I have a good grasp on feeding/watering/lighting/ humidity/plants/enclosures and supplements. I'm fairly new to reptiles but have a very happy healthy Bearded dragon for over a year and a Mali Uromastyx for approx. 6 months. Both of which I thoroughly enjoy. Can anyone here recommend a breeder in Ontario that may have some babies available in a few months? I would post this on the Canadian site but things seem to move a little more slowly over there. Thanks for any info you can pass along to me. L.

You may want to get in contact with a local herp society. They might be able to give you more information about local/canadian breeders. Just another thought here, there might be reptile shows that you can attend to find a breeder?
Good luck!

actually I just missed a show yesterday (on purpose) in my area. I was afraid if I went then I'd be too tempted to buy. I haven't got a setup up and running yet and I like to do that before I bring home a lizard. Good thought on the herp. society thing tho,, I hadn't thought of that. (see, still learning) L.

VERY sorry you missed it. I enjoy going to shows, and will always go to ones in my area. Yes, it's tempting to impulse buy, but there's also tons of INFORMED data available at these shows. The local herp society (s) also usually have a presence at these shows, so they're worth attending if only to get a feel for locally specific issues with raise a herp in your area. Obviously, your regiment will differ than mine, as I live in AZ! Also, keep in mind that you can find really good deals on setups at these shows. Some of the larger names setup cages just for the weekend and sell off their enclosures at the end of the show at a discount.
Good luck, and here's hoping you do attend your next show!
