Ovulation?

dominaeve Apr 18, 2005 03:04 PM

Ok, this may be too graphic a question for some ... but I have to ask ... I am so curious ...

I am not a breeder. I have a BRB and a Ball as pets. I am a snake lover but do not have the time that is required for the serious dedication and education of a breeder.

That said, do I have to worry about ovulation in my female BRB? She is almost 4 now and has been with me for almost a year. Do females ovulate if there is not a male around? If there is no male to fertilize, will she pass her ovulation like a period? I don't know how this works with reptiles ...

Feeling really stupid here ... But I had to ask ...

Most breeders cycle their snakes and well to make this short. Nothing to worry about. Most female snakes never seem to notice that they missed breeding season, they just look for the next Rat.

Oh alright, so they don't have "female" cycles that need to be cleaned up or that I need to be sensitive to? I can handle that. Thanks
