Dumb newbie question re keeping baby in Sterilite sweater box

bruce_y Apr 18, 2005 04:29 PM

Hello all-

I'm in the process of acquiring my first baby ball and am considering keeping it in a Sterilite sweater box until it is fully aclimated and feeding well. Do you recommend that I use a regular under the tank heater for the box? Will the plastic give off any fumes? Will the UTH provide sufficient heat?

Alternatively, should I just go with a 20 gal aquarium to start? Or do you recommend another type of cage setup for a baby?

I've read a ton of caresheets, but I haven't heard any definitive recommendations on starting a CH baby. (Separately, do you strongly recommend against going with CH? Or does it really matter between CH vs CB?)

Thanks in advance for your help!
Bruce

UTH should be fine if connected properly and temps are not too high. That size container should be good for a while.
