Incubation

coolj9688 Apr 18, 2005 08:54 PM

I was in school today when my female laid her eggs. I know that the most the eggs could have been in the tank is 3 hours because i had someone check on them. Will the 3 hours in the tank without an incubator effect the hatching? Also my incubator keeps flucutating between 86 and 81 and im trying to figure out just the right turn (hovabator) to get it to 82-83 will a few hours of this effect the eggs?

Thanks
Justin

A few hours in the cage shouldn't harm the eggs. As for the incubation temp, I believe it should be 85F. I am not familier wit the hovorator incubators so can't recommend how to set them. Some fluctuation is fine, as long as it doesn't droop below 80F or above 90F.

Congrat on the eggs. My girl just laid her first clutch on Sunday and I have them in a hovabator. The proper temps from The Bearded Dragon Mannual is 82-85. My hovabator is holding steady at 84 degrees so I don't know what my husband did right to get it to hold steady since this is the first time using it. My girls eggs spent some time in the tank because I expected her to lay yesterday instead of Sunday and it didn't seem to hurt the eggs one bit to spend a little time in the tank until the incubator was ready. I really hope that your eggs turn out okay as I hope the same for mine.
