Kachina started to lay at about 10:00 tonight

PHEve Apr 18, 2005 09:53 PM

Still laying, The room was dark, I went in to check on everyone, as a couple girls were digging today, Kachina being one of them.

Anyway she kicked all the damp sand away from the corner and is laying basically on the tank floor.

So I'm sitting and waiting as she has more coming, figured I would post this for now while I wait. Oh these girls are keeping their mom busy and edgey, LOL till they are done.

poor girl, 10:00 pm is way past her bedtime! that is so weird that all the girls seem to be laying on the sand instead of in the sand lately. i guess they are finally realizing what a WASTE of time it is, ha ha!
i hope every perfectly, those look like some nice eggs so far

Oh man, this girl must be exhausted, just left her, there were so many behind her, I began my egg collection early.

Had to give her some space. Yep, got ten in the container and shes still pushing, so guess I will go back and sit on the floor and wait with her.

Have to pretend to cover the eggs when shes done, don't want her looking around after all that work and seeing them gone. Would be a shame.

holy cow! are they all fertile? is there anything left of her? i know how fat ivan was before pregnancy and i know how small she was after 6 eggs so i can only imagine that poor girl. do you have waxworms and water standing by?
you crack me up with "sneaking" out the eggs, after this laying session i am sure she wants them out of her sight!

She seems fine, I think shes done, shes covering a pile of sand I created behind her, guess she thinks she covered them as she layed them, LOL (I'm glad she thinks they are there)

She seemed to lay 10 NICE eggs, so we will have to see, I will have to inform Squashy, he may be a Dad soon.

I know you think its stupid Vonnie, heheheh but I think taking them when they are not aware is much nicer, they go through so much, and then try and hide them.

I have had some continue to pile sand on (where they think the eggs are) for days after, so to let them see you take them is kind of sad!

i don't think it's stupid, i just think it's funny and cute. depending on where my girl's lay them, i will take either the box out of the cage or the lizards out of the cage so i don't go tearing into the sand in front of them either, mostly out of fear. would they try to attack something touching their eggs? i am not sure what i would do if one of them laid out in the open.
those are some nice looking eggs, i see some nice pink spots. i hope she and squashy are proud

I hope collareds are selling better than emeral swifts this year. You are going to have your hands full little lady! I hear Suncharmer lizards are hard to come by though ;O)

Or is that only a name saved for Kong's babies?

PHEve Apr 19, 2005 09:26 AM

I was thinking there are going to be alot of tanks of babies, your right Johneee.

** KONGS children will be THE TRUE SUNCHARMERS LINE, lol

You know I have to keep "THE SON OF KONG " (remember that movie)

PHEve Apr 19, 2005 09:51 AM

PHEve Apr 19, 2005 12:39 PM

LOL yeah, pitter patters all over the place

Guess theres about 17 -18 eggs in the cooker now. I may have to get another incubator this year, still have 3 girl to go, and then it all starts again with more clutches.

I think I will have a busy few months around here, and need plenty of crickets too !

You sure are going to have your hands full. I don't know how'll you'll do it, I'm thinking its tough with 3 lizards (I let the side blotched go in side blotched lizard territory this spring, didn't handle them much).
