so i have a 10 gal and the bromeliads are just growing too well. many new ones have grown and the leaves are bending at the top. how do i solve this? trimming would make the plants look bad. should i remove the new plants? thanks.

A lot of bromeliads get pretty big for a 10 gallon tank, but there are dwarf forms available that will fit, but still have nice cups for the frogs. (Neoregelia "pepper" is a dwarf, and there are other nice ones, as well). There are other members who can probably suggest other good dwarf forms, but I stupidly mixed and didn't record the names of most of mine. Trimming should ordinarily be limited to cutting back or pulling off the dying leaves if they go soft, and cutting off the old plant after it flowers and has produced "pups". In the meantime, it won't kill them to cut the leaves back a bit to fit, but it just won't look very good.

If I were you I wouldn't trim and just remove the brom and save it for a larger tank. A couple of epiphytes you might want to try are neoregelia liliputian and neo. lili. "midget". These don't get very large, staying under 5 or 6 inches in height.
