how important is....

having my leo on some kind of day/nite cycle? I dont really have one now, and she seems alright, so I didnt know if it was a particularly crucial thing or not. If it is important, whats a good way to do it? A timer? With what bulb?

Also, on another note, if my almost 3 month old gecko basically stays in her hides at all times, other than to eat, poop,or walk to the other hide. Is that normal? She is gaining weight quickly now so I'm not concerned about her health, but just wondering about that behavior.

I need to create a day/night cycle because my leos' tanks are in the playroom in out basement where there is no light from windows. So I need a lamp. But, if the leo is in a bedroom or other room with windows it isn't necessary.

yeah my room is in the basement too, but I have a window so I guess I should just start opening it. It would probably do me good to see the sun once in a while
