Questions on Zoomed Blue Day Bulbs

Exit_Mouse Apr 19, 2005 05:01 PM

First of all I was wondering, what does the blue glass do?

And also Im thinking of getting a crested gecko and if I do I would want to make a naturalistic setup for it with real plants but the only room I could put it in doesnt really have any natural sunlight.
So could the Blue and Red bulbs add the spectrums needed for the plants to live or would I need some other kind of light?

i would pick up a uva/uvb reptile bulb if light is necessary. that way more colors in the spectrum will be available. otherwise i would get a plant specific red or blue bulb. that way you know the plants are getting the correct shade of light.
the reason these are used for noctournal animals is because they don't perceive red or blue of that shade as " light" so they act as they would normally during their active hours.

I don't think the blue bulb would work for the plants you might want to buy one of those UV florescent tubes they will give of the light needed for the plants and will not fry your crested.
