When do you introduce two Cresteds?

3-three-7 Apr 19, 2005 05:57 PM

I have an unsexed juvinile, and a male adult. The juvilnile is almost half the size of my adult. When is a good time to leave them in the same cage, without supervision?

a pic for views.

The only time I would introduce another into a cage housing an adult male is if it was a female that weighed at least 35 grams and I wanted her to have his children. House the male alone.

you don't want the crested to become gravid at too early an age, and it usually knows if it's a male before you can tell visually so there may be some agression going on if it's two males.
it's a great lookin crested, keep them separate until you know for sure.

Okay, so I've had the Juvinile from January. I've had it in a lunchpail size encolsure since then, and it is slowly growing. It is not growing as fast as my Adult did. Does it have to do with the size of its enclosure?

No it is not the size of the enclosure. If it is Healthy, recieving plenty of good food and the temps are right . It is just growing at its own rate. Mine seem to grow in spurts.
