Wow...Excellent!! Baby DA's!! Tough little beasties to get to feed. What's the gestation period?
My Sawscales went at it this weekend too...
Cheers!

Save a Rattlesnake...Skin a Sweetwater Resident!
I believe I read about three months but need to check on that. Some Australian guy has a good website about them and I need to find it in my favorites again. I heard they were difficult feeders and a year back I had a new born that people said did not eat and I waited until it started using its lure at sunset and then hopped a lizard scented defrosted pink in front of it on forceps and it pop went the death adder. I started at a distance so it could actually watch the pink move closer to it like it was a tricked lizard. I hope to have such luck in the future.
Phobos,
I believe its about 146 days. I just had one female have 23 (no stillborns or slugs) and another here should drop within 2 weeks.
I say about because....I put the male in for a week then out for a week for 6 weeks in October and November.

Thanks Mate:
That's a remarkable # of live young without any failures.
What do you do with all of those live little "snappers"? What sort of success rate do you have getting the neonates to feed?
Cheers!

Al,
That 23 with no still borns or unfertilised ova in not the norm, never the less i am not complaining!
I force fed until they start taking on their own...so no problems...and I suppose a 100% hit rate.
maybe 10% take a frozen pink first off with no scent
and a further 40% would take a scented pink (with frog or lizard)
But its easier just to force feed until they are taking the desired meal....
they seem to learn after their second force feed or so a become better recipients (they don't struggle or try to spit out the food item)
Regards,
Scott
Thanks Scott
