Feeding Guinea Pigs.......compared to small rats...

crazy4burm123 Apr 19, 2005 07:35 PM

I went to the pet store today and was going to get Squeeze ( now 3') his first small rat. But they did not have any so the guy gave me a small guinea pig that was about ther same size. Is it oke to feed him that and then next week start on small rats or will this confuse him?
thanks
Rob

If a variety is normal (he seems kind of young to have developed a strong liking to anything specific), then mixing prey is no problem. It may be hard to get a frozen guinea pig though... just a hint that I think a bigger issue here may be feeding live prey.

I dont feed them very often i give them to my largest retic every once in awhile to spice things up and variety for her. I would watch out feeding to often I hear they can be addicting, but I have yet to have one get addicted to anything other than rats and poultry. I also hear they are fattening but I know nerd feeds them to some of their snakes without any problems it looks like.

Why oh why would someone consider feeding live prey? When your burm is 8',10',15'... what are you going to do? Use live 5lb rabbits? Live hogs?
Switch to f/t, and you'll never have to post another question about feeding.
You keep getting the same advice, yet fail to heed it.

All my prey items are either prekilled or f/t....the guinea pig was f/t.
