Goini clutch

Snakesunlimited1 Apr 19, 2005 09:01 PM

I looked in on my Goini female and saw 5 eggs and more on the way. The problem is that 3 eggs are infertile. I hope the rest come out OK. I was wondering have any of you ever tried to feed infertile eggs to another snake. I don't think the female will eat them but maybe another will. I was reading about how Boas are known to eat their infetile egg sack so I got to thinking. Come on I know somebody has tried it. So what happened. Is it safe? Don't know if I will do it but who knows what you guys will say. Here is the female.
Thanks Jason

I have caught my females eating there own fertile eggs 3x last year.

I know that Terry D has a theory about this being more common that we think... Females that appear to be gravid and then seem to reabsorb their eggs actually laid and ate their own eggs.

Man that is a nice looking snake. I would love to see more pics of her. I would not bother with the infertile eggs, I toss em in the trash. That is after a few weeks of denial. I put almost anything in my incubator just to see if it pulls through but as you could guess, I have yet to hatch out any eggs that looked bad from the get go. Tom Stevens
