MYSTERY TURTLE

afallingstar87 Apr 19, 2005 09:50 PM

I was helping my uncle drudge his pond, when on the edge of the pond we found a turtle. I have turtles of my own, and I was just curious as to what she (I'm pretty sure she was a she) was. I found her in Central Pennsylvania, she was about 7-8" in carapace length, Her shell was just a bland black color (She had little hole like things on her lower shell, like she was shot with BB's, but the holes didn't go more then half a cm into her shell, any idea what that was? But besides that she looked healthy) She was also red, I thought immediatly red painted turtle, but she ONLY had red markings on her. Any idea as to what she was?

Might be a Northern Redbelly but we need a little better description.

The hole could have be from a predator attack or shellrot.
