housing Crested with Phelsuma?

dpdesign Apr 20, 2005 08:25 AM

I know people frown upon mixing species, but is it possible (in a large, densely planted naturalistic tank) to house some sort of day gecko with a crested gecko? I would love to have a timer set to turn on a red light at night for viewing the crested. Would they fight, or likely leave the crested alone?

The humid, 80s tank would seem to work well for both arboreal species.

You don't want your crested to be exposed to 80 degree weather all day long you want it to be in the mid 70's and I personally think the crested would kick the day geckos butt. Overall I would not risk it and would strongly reccomend not housing them together.

I see your point about the temps. That said, is there any kind of diurnal, arboreal reptile or amphibian that can share a large tank w/a crested? (I need something to look at during the day!)
