Monitor introduction ?......breeding project

Roadspawn Apr 20, 2005 08:26 AM

Hello
I have an adult argus/flavi cross male. I will be getting an adult gouldi/flavi cross female today. Besides the quarintine issues, is there a protocal on introducing them to each other? Does it matter who goes in who's enclosure? I'll post pics as soon as I can.....Thanks
Robert

only doing it will tell you. You have your monitor and will get one that is unknown. Hmmmmmmmm They could get along, or not, they could fight or not, it may be because they are both the same sex or not. Even if they fight, they may not injure eachother, or they may. At least with the gouldi complex. They don't slice eachother to ribbons, at least most of the time.

I am not being a smart alleck, but only putting them together will tell. Its always a gamble. Good luck I hope it goes well and they pair right up. FR

Thanks for the reply. I guess I'll find out when I do it.

On another note, what do you feed your rodents? I figure the healthier the food source, the better the monitors will do.

I was comparing the two. I noticed a difference in their head structure. What I think is the male has a shorter more compressed head like structure. The "female's" head is longer. I don't know if that means anything. Can you shed any light on the subject? Thanks
Robert
