snafubmxer4life Jul 10, 2003 06:27 PM

I have a ball python that is about 18 inches long and it has been eating one fuzzy every week but after it eats it still seems to be active like he is looking for more food so should i try offering him another fuzzy or jus feed it somthing bigger like a hopper thanks for the help

I would go with bigger food. You may consider a rat pup if you have access to them. This way your snake will be used to the smell of rats and you won't have to worry about switching it over once it is large enough for small rats. My snakes seem to grow quicker when eating rats too.

So a rat pup would not be to big for it to handle or make my snake become fat an unhealthy?

A rat pup is perfect for a snake that size. I have a ball python that size that eats two rat pups and is not over wheight at all.

Ok thank you to both of you for your replys but one more question would i still feed him once a week

yes, its good to keep your snakes on a 7 to 10 day feeding cycle until they are well established. I have a ball python that is 4 ft. and I either feed him a large rat every other week or a medium rat once a week.It all depends one what the store has. Any time that the snakes skin looks more loose than normal offer it a rat and if its not interested I wouldn't worry about it.
