How much do you feed your Collard?

fourstrings88 Apr 20, 2005 02:52 PM

Hey all

I was wondering how many crickets you feed your Collard Lizard every feeding and how many times a week do you feed it?I also need to know the size of the cricket.

THANKS

everyday, depending on size of the collared, lets me know what size crickets to feed.

Mostly after a month or so old any collared can down an adult cricket.

I breed most of mine, but when I buy I try and buy 1/2 crickets, they are a nice size and you have them longer as they grow. The adults die off quicker.

As far as how many, I toss in a mess of them, but hand feed any body who looks a bit thin or needs some extra weight. They always are hand fed to assure me they get extra.

I would say most of mine eat atleast 3-4 a day and superworms too!

LMAO

I feed about the same as Eve...I never put in more than they will eat at one sitting. I hate having roaming crickets in the tank.

See I thought I would mess with Chris and tell him he spelled Collareds like the veggies (collards).

Then I tell him I feed my collareds, lizards.

HAhahhahaha NO WAY, I do not feed my collareds any lizards, just BUGS

Thanks Sockhead, your a smartie too!

I feed mine every day. I have been dusting all my crickets, superworms and wax worms for my expecting female so she has plenty of calcium but I think once every other time is ok. They eat about 4-5 big crickets and a lot more of the small ones (if my pet store is out of the big ones). I have heard a good rule of half the size of their head but like PHeve I think said after a few weeks any collard will pound an adult cricket with no problem. I also don't like letting them roam around the cage as they can bite them while they sleep and just plain bother them (Would you want bed bugs?

for my guys it depends on the time of year but ivan the girl and walter are just pigs i guess because i feed them almost daily and they eat like 8 or more crickets each time and i have to feed them separately because they are really rude eaters. kaiser is a light eater and gertie has some days where she eats alot and others where she eats a little. they seems to eat less in the winter

I feed them as many crickets as they want. Even if they are not baby lizards, I still remove the back legs of large crickets. I dust the crickets every other to 2 days. This winter is the first winter I had them and they are not as hungry as in the fall. Cory might want to eat more, but he's become so festively plump he's just not hunting more than 2-3 a day. Ezra's eating 3-6 a day.
