what is belly rot and what causes it and how do we get rid of it?
That is something that is caused by prolonged exposure to saturated or wet bedding/substrate with not only water, but bacteria and or urine and feces. I haven't seen this in years, but if I have it corectly it would look a lot worse than just pinkish scales. It is entirely likely that your snake is just going into shedding motions.

It isn't "Ideas" that fail or succeed,... it is the "Systems" which are instilled to launch and sustain the idea that either fail or succeed.>[Me.]
what else would it include other than just the pinkish look?
Scales seperating and cracking, possibly falling out. It's been so long since I last saw it,.. maybe 20 years,.. that my memory may be too clouded to acurately describe it, so I was reluctant to do so in case I would give inaccurate info. Maybe someone else that has seen it recently can tell you. But has your snake been exposed to any overly wet conditions for any considerable length of time? Like a week or more?
