Here's how we do it:

1. Buy disposeable food containers from Walmart (at least 1" over their length). Either drill or burn airholes into the plastic.

2. Place dampened papertowel in the cup. Add crested.

3. Place in a syrofoam-lined box with either heat/cold pack (making sure they never touch the crested container) and pack with shreaded newspaper.

4. Tape box.

5. Ship.

We have lost zero cresteds this way. We also run temp checks with any/all new types of containers/heat/cool packs. If you are afraid that your crested will get too hot/too cold. Check the highest/lowest temp along route of travel and set up a digital thermometer where the crested would be located in the box. Do everything as above except taping (lol, and shipping) the box. Check temperatures often. Sometimes the location of the cool/heat pack can mean life/death for an animal. Best to err on the side of caution.

We use this same method for shipping snakes, save we place them in snakebags.
