One of my Bairdis laid her eggs.....

draybar Apr 20, 2005 06:36 PM

One of my Bairdis (Rosie)laid her eggs today. This was her first season.
Unfortunately she only laid three good eggs and two slugs.
The three eggs are huge. They are twice as big as my corn eggs.
I am afraid my other female bairdi didn't get pregnant. She isn't showing any signs and was bred at the same time as Rosie.
I also had one of my creamsicles lay 20 healthy eggs and one of my snow corns laid 18 healthy eggs. I still have two more corns ready to lay.
Rosie's eggs:

Can't wait for them to hatch. Any chance you could get a comparison shot with a corn egg to show how big they are?

Wow, awesome! When I got my bairds from Rick, their birth and feeding dates were included. I had hatched 2 clutches of corns literally on the same day my bairds hatched, but the bairds were much larger. I thought it made sense after I learned that they lay fewer, larger eggs than corns but that makes it very obvious.

The three eggs are huge. They are twice as big as my corn eggs.

That's because they are going to hatch out big 15 inch fuzzy eating bairdi babies, not any runty little cornsnakes! LOL.

I wish my bairds would get the deed done this year. I still haven't seen them "at it", although I don't watch 24/7.

No doubt those bairdi come out the egg ready to tackle fuzzies. When I first received my 04 bairdi, I could not believe the size of him. It's pretty interesting on how much larger Bairdi hatchlings are then corns, yet as adults, both are closer in size then what the hatchlings would lead you to believe. I guess the same would be true with the larger emory rat babies.
