Bearded Dragon info needed

crocodile_king Apr 20, 2005 09:05 PM

Hello,
I know very little about Bearded Dragons as i am more of a "croc guy" or "hotts guy"

My wife has a bearded dragon and she keeps asking me questions about it, I dont know pacifics on this species so I would like to gather info on them, so I know and so I know what to tell her next time she asks

Her bearded dragon is about 1 year old, my wife is interested in knows its sex, is there any way to tell sex on these other than to probe??

Also, I guess the dragon has just started head bobbing within the last week .. is there any significant meaning to this?? I guess it hadnt done this before on not often at least

Anyother info that anyone would like to share or any ifo that would be helpful ... would be appreciated

I dont check these boards, but I will try to remember to, but I may forget so if you could shoot me a email that would be great !!

Thanks in advance!!

The best way to check the sex of your dragon is to hold it on a flat surface, either a table top or counter, facing away from you. Lift the tail up to about 90 decrees and twist it slightly side to side. Look before the vent, on the tail side. If you see two bulges, you have a male, if you see none, or just one large one, it's a girl.

There are all kinds of good care sheets on basic bearded dragon care online. Just do a google search on bearded dragon care sheets. You can also check any of the sponsors here on kingsnake.com dealing with bearded dragons. Another good site is below.

Oh forgot to answer one of your questions. Head bobbing or hand waving are part of bearded dragon behavours. headbobbing is often a mating or dominance display, usually done by a male bearded dragon but dominate females can also head bob
