Hey everyone, just curious, I have three ball pythons and live in Queens. I was reading the laws regarding animals permitted in NYC and it states that members of the pythonidae family are illegal!! is this true? are ball pythons illegal in NYC? thanks a lot

Hi Cheryl
For what I know is that you can have Ball Pythons but the bigger pythons, anything over 6-feet you need a permit. They sell Ball Pythons at the show's and they haven't said anything about it. You also you need a permit for a few bigger Monitors and some other reptiles.

Good Luck

the ban is:

All venomous reptiles
All crocs

Anocandas yellow and green
All burms EVEN dwarfs
All Retics EVEN dwarfs

Croc monitors
all water monitors
black and white throat monitors
and nile monitor

and to show how smart our VOTED politicians are...savanah monitors are not in the ban!!!!!!!!

(sorry for the poor spelling in a hurry leaving for work!)
