Snake off food because of Shed?

sunbirdx Apr 21, 2005 12:49 AM

Hi there guys,
I just inherited a pair of ball pythons, the same age, one is a lot larger than the other, and eats better. I feed my snakes on sunday, and this sunday, the smaller one didnt take his mouse, i tried again tonight, but still no go....
He is begining to get ready for a shed, and is looking quite "ghosty" right now. Could this be why he isnt eating?

Yes, it could very well be the reason. They often go off
feed when in shed. I wouldn't worry about a ball python
not eating until at least 2-3 months of non-eating.
I've had several go as long as a year without eating...then
one day they decide they are interested again!

Good luck,
Chris Simone
