Hi All! Need help/input

Linda G Apr 21, 2005 08:54 AM

I am thinking about setting up a spare bedroom for Digit to
freeroam. He is about 2 years old now and just over 3' long.
The questions/concerns I have are as follows:

Although Digit never tries to bite me anymore and seems to
want attention at times, he still runs (not as fast) when I
try to take him out of the cage. He also constantly tries
to get away from me while holding him. He is however very
personable with me unlike any other person he sees...he blows
up his body and gets really ticked off.
Would giving him more space potentially help him get
to be more friendly?

What are some of the problems you have found with this
type of set-up? Hazards?

My thought is that if allowed to freeroam, he will never
be happy in a cage again should something happen and he
would need to be caged...your thoughts?

I certainly want to do what's best for him without posing
any hazards, etc for him. He seems happy and content but
he is very active (unlike Beanie) and I would like to give
him more room.

Thanks for any input.
Linda

It's been my experience that having a room to freeroam "usually" helps with socialization. It may take a little time but it does work. I've had totally freaked out iguanas that didn't want to be touched calm down and turn into real sweethearts after a few months of freeroaming and interaction at a "distance". You may see Digit's activity level slow down a bit also. After a few days of increased activity, checking things out and adapting to his new digs, he may become a couch potato! Good luck!! He's a handsome fellow.

Thanks jiffypop.

I am leaning more toward setting him up like this. I just
want to take the time to figure out exactly the best set-up.

I guess I am biased but I think he is quite handsome also
