Education is the key...

I recently picked up some baby beadeds from my friend Steve Angeli down in So Cal. Upon getting close to home I stopped in at the post office to pick some stuff up, I brought the animals in with me as it was hot outside, and put them (still in shipping box)on the counter. There was a line formed behind me and soon enough I heard the comments begin about the "box" the one with Live Venomous Animal stickers all over it. Well some of the folks took offense that I would bring them in the post office and started bagging on me and my animals, saying they should not be allowed inside, that they (the people)should leave, basically a bunch of rich blue hairs complaining. The kicker came when I spun around, put the box on the floor, stood up on it and began my "talk". I began by asking how many folks suffered from diabetes, cancer or blood pressure issues (remember my audience). Of course some hands went up, and happily it was from those who complained the most, so I launched into the latest and greatest on Helodermid research and diabetes treatment, the use of several pitviper venoms in the treatment of bloodpressure and/or cancer and the truly wonderous finds that are taking place. To the worst offenders I simply said, "my animals and many others could well be responsible for your longevity, think about that before you act so rudely towards people you dont know!". You should have heard the applause and seen the looks on their faces, the apologies were both respectful and sincere and I think I probably changed the opinions of around 15 people that day.
Education is the key to understanding but not everyone is as easy to get through to Im afraid.
Cheers

I was laughing pretty hard while imagining you standing on a box in front of a group of oldies. Funny, funny stuff

I tell you THAT is the crowd to get on our side, they have LOTS of $, many are politically active, and, at least here in Palm Springs, many are connected politically anyways. If these folks learned that our critters could possibly help lengthen their lifespans and keep them on the putting green longer, they will come a running!!
