HI!

This is the first time I've posted anything on this forum but I see the love that everyone has for their animals so I thought I would try it out.

I have 2 pairs of crested and one yet undetermined who are doing fine and I will post pics as soon as I can figure it out. My question is..

Will they eat silkworms and should silkies be a staple food item. I feed them all a CGD/peach babyfood cocktail and they are doing well. I purchased some of my vipertails some crickets and one was WAY to big so I threw it into on of the crested cages and they went crazy, so I wondered about the possibility they would like silkies. As an aside, I am all out of silkies which is why the vipers were eating the crickets...

I do not feed silk worms at all but you can feed cricket 3 times a week or so alternating with CGD and mashed fruit (preferbly fresh not babyfood)

I would not mix the babyfood and CGD together, it throws off the nutritional balance.

Silkworms are an excellent staple insect for cresties, or really any herp.Not only are they very healthy, but they also contain an enzyme called serrapeptase which allows calcium abosrbtion, breaks down arterial plague, and can reduse overall pain.

I would offer the silkwroms once or twice a week, CGD ecery night, and babyfood once every couple weeks by itself. Babyfood is more like a treat for cresties.

As you may know, silkworms can get up to about 3 and a half inches long. There is virtually no risk of impaction with silkies, but the main concern would be choking, just mkae sure to use common sense when feeding them and do feed anything huge lol.
