Freaking out when you clean the cage?.....

peachstategeckos Apr 21, 2005 04:53 PM

Does anyone find that their dragons kinda freak out when you clean out their cage? I was talking about it with nicoleo and it came up that hers freak when she cleans the cage so I was wondering if it was just her beardies or if it's all of em..lol.
I'm getting that rescue tomorrow and I want to make sure it's in a clean enviroment but not stressed from me cleaning the tank. Thanks.

from my experience i found it was a best time to clean up after his lights went out and fell asleep.

I always take the dragon out of her cage when I do a full clean up. For spot cleaning, I do it as soon as I see the poop, use a papertowel to pick it up, wash the spot and wipe. I had used plastic table cloth at the time so it was easy to spot clean. My dragon would jsut watch my every move at first, then she would scratch at the cage right after she did her job, to get me to remove it.

For full cleans, which I did about once a month, I usually just put her into a nice luke warm bath while I cleaned her cage (of course she hated the bath part).

I meant like afterwards. After you put them back into the tank do they freak because it smells different of what?

Mine are just weird what can I say lol. Mine do go nuts though and want back out of the tank when I do a full cleaning of the tank, they hate it so much. They could care less about the spot cleaning and they know that they're getting more food when I spot clean because I spot clean before I give them their veggies. Mine just might the exception to rule after all I do tend to attract unusual animals in the first place. As far as I know I've never owned an animal that fits into the normal catagory as far as behavior or anything else. Now I'm thinking I should write a book called A Pet Owners Guide on How to Deal With Unusual Animals lol.
