feeder fish and semi-aquatic lizard sp.?

mp1 Apr 22, 2005 09:39 AM

Anyone have any experience feeding small feeder fish to semi-aquatice lizards.
My Tribilonotus has taken to eating only worms. She REFUSES to have anything to do with crix, etc. The only variety I've been able to work in is different types of worms. I have heard of this species taking feeder fish and was wondering about the possibility of dropping a couple into her water (10" dish, about 1 1/4" deep) dish.
Any input from anyone? I've got no experience with feeder fish at all and don't even know if this type of presentation would work at all.

any and all info is appreciated!

Matt

If you have to goto fish go with guppies stay away from goldfish. you also might be able to try some gobies ( sp) there usually black with big wavy tail fins about a buck apiece. Just avoid the hell out of goldfish. Paul

The problem with water dishes is that they are poor aquariums. The fish run out of oxygen and/or get overheated and die if not eaten that day. A variety is always good

As per the goldfish, if part of a variety they are okay. The big scare that is blown out of proportion is that they contain more thiaminase then a lot of other fish. This is an enzyme that breaks up thiamine, an essential vitamin. It is not poisonous, and goldfish can be fed exclusively if thiamine is supplemented, but it is just easier, and more beneficial to feed a variety.
