A few pics of my first hatchlings....

princesskain Apr 22, 2005 01:33 PM

Rainbow x Redstripe pairing. 9 & 10 days old. One is showing yellow coloration with a tangerine neck. The other is tangerine all over and has a fair amount of carroting in her tail.

Carrot-tail Carrot-head jungle giant x High yellow. Excuse the mess in the pic, I was cleaning cages when I snapped these. This one shows great tangerine in it's body, and has a nice carrothead. The tail bands are outlined in orange. He/She is 20 days old.

This is the clutchmate to the prev leo pictured. This one shows less tangerine in the body, but has red-orange highlights in her sides, and has a fair amount of carrottail at just 20 days old.

SHTCTB (Gourmet Rodent?) x SHTCT (Hiss). These two are 9 days old. The darker one has nice tangerine circles in the orange bands. THe hypo one is amazing... It already shows red-orange pigment around the nose and face. I am very pleased with these guys. So far, I have 12 hatchlings in bins, and 20 eggs left to hatch. In a few months, I will introduce my next round of breeders. I expect this year (MY FIRST EVER AT BREEDING ) to be full of great suprises! IT's going to be so hard to let these guys go when the time comes.

They're so cute and if I didn't have a leo on hold for me already I'd want one but that doesn't make me not want one though lol. I still want one but I don't have the room for any more animals and my husband would kill me lol. Good job though because they're just to cute.

The SH stands for Super Hypo, meaning it will have zero body spots (black pigment in the body) as an adult. That one doesn't have anything black right now as a hatchling.. it's more of a purplish-gray.

I will be selling them in probably about 2 months. I want to see them develop a bit more , they are my very first babies. And plus, it will be easier to sex them at that time. I incubated them at varying temps because I didn't have an incubator at first, so I'm not sure if they'll be males or females. They are hatching anywhere from 47 days- 55 days, so I'm guessing I'll have a mixture of both sexes. As far as morphs go, right now I am hatching tangerine's, carrottails, stripes, redstripes, and the albino's (regular and abberant patterns with very bright colors). I have 12 babies now, and 20 eggs set to hatch over the next 1-2 months.

What price range were you thinking for the stripes? I love those guys! E-mail me with prices once you get them figured out...
