Too Old To Mate?

ARolf Apr 22, 2005 02:25 PM

from what i understand, if you have a matuer male the he will try to breed with the female every chance he can. but my male he looks like he is too old to breed. his skin is all wrinkled and he has never shown any interest in the female.

Let him try...it can do no harm to him and maybe give him something to live for. How old is too old? Breeding females that are real old especially if they have not bred before is problematical, but I can see no harm in trying an old male. If you have the right "race" of tortoise and they are biologically compatible, it might be fun to see what he can do. Let us know if he succeeds.
