HI --- its been a while since I have posted anything (mostly questions) but....

Some of my last posts I believe were that my iggy was not eating and was supper melow. WELL.................... eveything is almost back to normal. HE IS FISTY again. The scratches on my arms prove it as I try to handle AT LEAST once a day. He is back to ALMOST 2 plate/bowl fulls of food a day again. I even cut out all of the fruit because that was ALL he would eat....but now....he is becoming an eating machine again.

During his "lull" he did not grow at all. But my girlfriend and I were looking at him real close the last couple days and he is growing agian and finally shedding again.

He was constantly wanting out of his cage also, so I would let him roam........a little. He does not even want out anymore. I let him out (with the scratches on my arm LOL) and set him outside his cage to do whatever he wants....and what does he do...he goes right back in now.

Any way, I would think, if you are feeding him good and he's got a big cage......he should be fine. Things seem to work themselves out. I dont know if that is good or bad advise, but it worked for me.

GOOD LUCK

Have you taken him to the vet for a checkup?

There are other things that could be wrong with him that you can't control that would make him grow very slowly, such as a pituitary problem. If you've already reviewed your husbandry, it's time to take him to the vet and see what s/he thinks.

I his habitat is corect;
anapsid.org
http://www.greenigsociety.org/home.html

(and I doubt his habit is correctly set up, just becaue he is sick)

If his habitat is correct, then the most likely culprit is intestinal parasites. All iguanas need to have their gut organisms checked once in a while, since they live in unnatural conditions. Find a reptile vet and bring your lizard a fresh fecal sample for examination.

IMO once you have all these things cleared up, he will do caatch-up growing and reach a size that is normal for hisi age.

well how much is that im only 15 and i dont have that money!

My vet charges about $40 for an exotics exam and $20 for a fecal. Some vets are more expensive, some are cheaper. I have a great vet, so I pay her prices.

No offense, but how do you afford to replace his UVB bulbs every 6 months? Who buys his fresh produce for him at the grocery store once a week? Iguanas are expensive, and a large part of that expense is vet bills. I feel for you, being a younger owner, but part of the responsibility of having a pet is taking it to the vet when it gets sick. If you can't find an adult to help pay your vet bills, maybe you can work something out with the vet. But it is your responsibility to figure out a way to make it work. Your iguana is counting on you.
