Ground Turkey Questions

dragonfruit_85 Apr 22, 2005 09:45 PM

When people are feeding ground turkey, where do you get it and what kind? I assumed just the ground stuff at the grocery store, right? And then you add a Centrum vitamin or something? I'm thinking of using this because it will add some variety to my tegu's diet, besides the mealworms, mice, crickets, egg, tuna, and rarely goldfish (I know I know). Any comments are welcome!

Hi Beth! the ground turkey can be found typcially in any grocery store. Try to get the turkey with around 15% fat content, versu the lean and more expensive. This fat content will aid the tegus in their "natural" food intake in the wild wit heating the skin/fur, etc of rodents, etc.
The calcium is okay, thoug hhave been utilizing rep-cal's Calcium w/ Vit D3 (no phosphorous) for years with great success.

Hey thanks a lot for the quick reply! I use MinerAll I, I was just really wondering about the Centrum stuff. I figured it was stuff I could get at the store, but now I'm sure. Thanks again!

Tegus are not dogs or cats and do not need the higher fat content. They shold be given 93% fat free. I use the turkey in addition to lots of other foods. I add in fruits and suppliments. It does help cut down on the rodent bills.
