Why'd he die?

Alyssa84 Apr 23, 2005 12:57 AM

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone could help me out... I rescued a baby corn snake from a friend's little brother a few weeks ago. It was dehydrated, cold and thin, but active. I warmed him up and kept him in slightly higher humidity while he was rehydrating. While I had him, he shed once, drank several times, and accepted a pinky. He seemed to be doing very well. Unfortunately, he died two days ago, and I can't figure out why. Are corn snakes typically delicate? Or was he maybe just too far gone to save? Any ideas would be helpful. I've kept snakes for years, but never corns and never hatchlings, so I'm at a loss.

There could be underlying problems but it sounds like it was probably just too far gone.
They can go so long without food that if and when they finally do eat their bodies just can't handle it. Just too late.
