You are as crazy as I am. This cage is smaller but I used picture frame moulding for the door. I really like how you use the lovely lamp shades for their lights. I think I will try that. Nice chams too.

I could use a few COOL cages like that, wow very impressive Both of you did a marvelous job!

Thanx. I am a physical therapist and after buying my new nose be my idiot friend started the idea of making a custom cage. Let me tell you 2 months after he said that I was finally done with it. It took a long long time and a lot of detail to realyl make it look presentable. It is truely amazing since everything is automated. Pretty much an eco system.
That is sweet. I was going to use picture frame molding as well but when you price out a 6ft tall 6ft long and 3ft wide cage I was looking at well over 150 bucks in just molding. I went with some other molding as you can see that turned out just as nice I think.
PS on the lamp shades get a pair of wire cutters and clip out the "o" ring in the middle, but not too much, just enough to have it fit over the porcelain top of the light. The remaing wire from the shad fits over it slightly snug and rests on top of the metal housing of the reptile lamp. It really completes the overall idea and makes it look high class. With your nice sr tup it would complement it nicely.
the pix are really big and hard to see the whole thing - can you link to them? I love the lampshades! what a great idea - very stylish

The Uv lights are very powerful and I now that some people do not like high UV output lights but these work great. So there are no bashings like other forums I will give you the data. At 12 noon the sun puts out avg 150 microwatts UV and these lights put off 140 at 12 inches. These are not to be used in small cages and can cause harm if misused. Because the chams love this light and react to it with bright colors as they do when you put them out side in sunlight they will stay under it for quite some time. This is why they go on for 1 hr at a time 4 times a day. I can careless what few research there is saying that they cause harm because it is crap in my opinion when used properly. I am best replicating the environment with them as compared to a very low UV rated 5.0 bulb. Do not get me wrong my baby is on a 5.0 and it is necessary for the smaller cages. With that being said here it is.
The UV is by mystic bulb and they are on 1 hr at a time from 8-9. 11-12, 2-3, and 5-6. The day bulbs are incadescent halogen 150 watt and are on from 6am - 8pm. After the day lights are off the night lights are kicked on and they are 100 watt black lights from 8pm - 6am. My mister is on 5 times a day for 5 min a cycle. I tried 1 and 2 min cycles and noticed dehydration signs in the chams crown. It should normally be swollen and puffy but it began to sink in slightly and I was having to trick him into takign water by offerin a silk worm and shootign water into his mouth. I therefore increased the mistign times and it seems to have solved the issue. I still am anal and try to get water in his mouth until he is full grown and I know he is thriving. The mystings are at 7am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm, and 6:30 pm all at 5 min a cycle.
Basically I keep it clean, add water, and feed them crickets and silkies is all.
PS here is a great recipe for cricket gut load. It is costly to make but is much more nutritious than the bottle stuff.
